4. How to Repair a Water Damaged Cellular Phone for Free

If you have ever been unlucky enough to have very clumsy hands and own a cellular phone then chances are that you probably have dropped your cellular phone in a toilet or in a puddle while you were running in the rain. If you have insurance then you pay a premium every month in order to get your phone fixed properly but under these circumstances you are not entitled to having your phone repaired. This is because of the fact that every cellular company will run a test to see if your cellular phone has been exposed to water and if it comes back positive then they will refuse to cover your phone and will send it back to you the same way you sent it to them. So, has this happened to you and you feel you have no remedy for this situation? Well, the good news is that you can take the situation into your own hands and preserve your phone without having to shell out hundreds for a new phone. In order to do this though you will need to know a few tricks of the trade which include the following:

a) Remove the battery from the back of your phone so that you will have access to the circuits which may have shorted when you dropped the phone into the water and damaged it. You will want to take your SIM card out if you have one (Sprint and Verizon do not have one at all ) and wipe any water you see off of the SIM and anywhere on the phone that has visible water on it.

b) Use a hair dryer to blow all of the water off of the phone and off of the SIM card (if you have one) this is done to get the phone as dry as possible while also removing the moisture that is left inside the phone as a result of being dropped. You should not put it on the highest setting because you will fry the boards inside if you do so. A low setting will do the job, just make sure that you have blown the entire phone and card dry. You want to maximize the chances that you have of saving your phone and any dry heat will help to save your phone and more than likely remove the water that can be found inside the phone.
